2025 Vintage Jean Laburthe

The 2025 vintage presents a profile of balance and patience, shaped by an exceptionally wet winter and spring. With nearly 900 mm of cumulative rainfall, well above long-term averages, the vines benefited from substantial water reserves but were also subject to high downy mildew pressure, driven by persistent humidity and mild temperatures through the end of May.

June marked a decisive shift: a heatwave and sustained high temperatures effectively halted disease development and restored healthy vineyard conditions. Flowering was even and uniform, resulting in excellent fruit set and establishing the foundations for a balanced growing season.

Summer conditions were generally favorable—warm but well regulated, supported by stable weather patterns and close vineyard monitoring by the teams. Timely rainfall towards the end of summer—approximately 70 mm over several events—reinvigorated vine activity and supported gradual, sometimes slow ripening, depending on grape variety.

White wines show good balance, natural acidity, and precise aromatic expression.

Red wines produced clean, expressive musts, already showing balance and harmony during the sugar accumulation phase, reflecting full phenolic maturity.

This early-ripening vintage is expected to deliver bright, well-defined wines, driven by freshness, precision, and the maritime influence characteristic of Château Malherbe.

Harvest period: from August 19 to September 19.
